Smashtics - Sonic - SSB4 Strategy Guide

This is the one and only blue blur, he can break the sound barrier and apparently, he can also break the SSB4 tier list as he is in the 5th position. Also known as the combo master, he was buffed incredibly from SBBB in terms of strength and overall quickness in dodging and running (of course..)
SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO LETS START THIS ANALYSIS!!

Rating his move sets!

  1. F smash- Pretty darn strong with tons of knock back though startup can be a bit slow. 3.5/5
  2. U smash- Hits multiple times and good range as sonic jumps up. I prefer it more than f smash for KOs. 4.5/5
  3. D smash- splits while hitting on both sides with his feet. 3/5
  4. Dash attack- Hits many times and good for punishing, good range and decent knock back. 4/5
  5. U tilt- kicks twice with legs, hard to juggle, 8 hit points. 3/5
  6. F tilt- kicks with legs, not a good move overall (don't use it). 1/5
  7. D tilt- good for egde guarding. 2/5
  8. Neutral attack- jabs forward with fists 3 times. 2/5
NOW FOR HIS EPIC AERIALS!!
  1. U air- spreads his legs and snaps it like scissors, surprisingly those lanky legs of him does 9 damage and is good for combos. 4/5
  2. F air- EPIC for combos, use it all the time. Hits and spins multiple times like a corkscrew. 5/5
  3. B air- hard to pull off but it's got great damage and knockback. 3.5/5
  4. D air- ground pounds diagonally with his foot doing 8 damage. 4/5
  5. N air- Not good for starting battle as it does small amounts of damage and no knockback (can be punished) but nice for racking up damage gradually. 3/5

Combo time!

BEGINNING MATCH-------------------
The combo to begin the match is simple. What you do is charge up his side B, by holding down the directional circle pad in the direction of your opponent. Then what you do is to release the attack, and jump as you hit your opponent. This will cause lots of knockback and damage to start the fight. After your hits land, jump backwards and down A, or meteor smash back on the stage.
DURING MATCH------------------------------------
The easiest way to do damage in a battle is to use your dash attacks (where Sonic runs and spins) and then short hop into back air. This is the easiest way to do damage. After that combo, land and repeat process. Another way to spice this up is to do a neutral air to hit for small amounts of damage.
KILL MOVES-------------------------------------
The best way to kill move with Sonic is to either charge up Side-A or Up-A. These are the two best kill moves for playing this way. Side A because it causes extreme knockback in later game, and Up A because it hits multiple times. I have done this with Sonic many times, and I promise that it works.

The Smashtics - Yoshi - SSB4 Strategy guide

This is a new series I would like to start which is a comprehensive strategy guide for all 51 fighters in SSB4. As for the incredibly cheesy title "Smashtics" is a fuse of Smash and Tactics since in the following series I would be teaching you "The Three T's" - Tactics, Tips and Tricks for the whole roster. The fighters will be dealt with in random order. What better way to kick off this new series with YOSHI, my main. He is an absolute powerhouse (better than Ganondarf) if you know how to use him. He's also in the top tier list along with Rosalina and Luma. NOW LET'S DO THIS!

Rating his Move set!

  1. Dash attack- Nice move, attacks by doing a jump kick horizontally, has great range. 4/5
  2. Neutral Attack- 2-hit combo with kicks. Racks up 7 hit points. 3/5
  3. Side Smash- Nice and Quick Headbutt. 14 hit points when uncharged, 22 when full charged.4/5
  4. Up Smash- Back flip while kicking, deploys quickly, 14-20 hit points. 4/5
  5. Down Smash- Attacks with tail on both sides and good range. 13-17 hit points. 4/5 (Good for Edge guarding)
  6. Side tilt- Quick tail whip, 7 hit points, can juggle though don't use much. 3/5
  7. Up smash- Quick vertical tail whip, 7 hit points, better than side tilt for juggling. 3.5/5
NOW MY FAVORITE MOVES OF YOSHI, THE AERIALS!

  1. Up Aerial- Very quick tail whip dealing 12 hit points, damn good knockback. 4.5/5
  2. Back Aerial- 3 tail whips (3+5+3 hit points), easy to deploy and good knockback. 3.5/5
  3. Forward Aerial- Real Strong head smack dealing 15 hit points and when hit at the sweet spot it can SPIKE! This move makes Yoshi the easiest fighter to spike with personally. 5/5
  4. Down Aerial- This is my reaction of this move:-

This move is EPIC, and truly sets Yoshi off from the rest, it can even break shields when done correctly. Does a WHOPPING 42 HIT POINTS when done correctly. Does not Spike. 1000000/5

NOW HIS SPECIALS!
  1. Neutral- Egg Lay- Swallows opponent and hatches it inside an egg (Darwin ...what have you done?). The length of time the opponents stays in the egg depends on its percentage. 1/5
  2. Side- Egg Roll- Not as fast as Sonic's spin dash but no need to charge. 9 damage per hit. On an average can hit twice. Takes some time to cool down. Suicide if used for recovery. 4/5
  3. Up- Egg Throw- Does 5 damage per throw. Can control angle of throw. Not good for offence but amazing for recovery. Can use it multiple time in air and has horizontal movement but no vertical momentum whatsoever. Combined with Yoshi's flutter jump it can get you back to the battle field from the edge. 4/5
  4. Down- Yoshi Bomb- Use with Caution as when used, Yoshi plummets to the ground without stopping. Punishable. 12 hit points when hit directly and 4 when hit by the stars that come out (from his butt?) on impact. Use only when opponent is directly below you and in the air. 2/5

Yoshi is a BOSS!!

Combo Time!
  1. Run- Short Jump on Opponent - Down Aerial (Works on ground and air)
  2. Up Tilt 3 times - Finish off with up smash (does 32 damage). Works only at low damage.
  3. Dash attack- egg roll opposite direction as dash- hit twice- finish with side smash or side tilt
  4. Up smash- jump- up aerial- land and jump for second up aerial (works at high damage).
  5. MY FAV- Dash attack- 4 neutral attacks- side smash- jump off stage- spike with forward aerial- egg throw back to safety.

Pro Tip- Don't be scared to fight off the stage in the air. Unlike Little Mac, Yoshi aint a ground fighter. His high jumps and recovery is amazing as with his forward spike and down aerial.

That's all for now, comment what fighter you want me to tackle next. Here's a video of a pro playing as Yoshi to give a look-see into what he handles like.
